Description Brave GK football equipment brand ambassador, Jakub Surovchik, is gearing up to defend the Sparta Prague goal in the 2023/2024 Fortuna Liga season.

This summer, a new European footballer, Jakub Surovchik, joined the rank of goalkeeper ambassadors for Brave GK. This talented 20-year-old goalie moved to the top Czech club, Sparta Prague, in 2023 and also became a player for the Slovak youth national team (Jakub is of Slovak nationality).

Right now, Jakub Surovchik is preparing for the new season of the First Czech Football League (Czech: Fortuna Liga). The first match of the 1st round should take place on Saturday, July 22, with Sparta Prague playing their first game the next day, July 23, against Sigma (6th place in the 2022/23 season).

In addition to match preparation, Surovchik took part in the official photo shoot for Sparta Prague. You can check out the pictures in this article!

Jakub Surovchik's Transfer to Sparta Prague in Summer 2023

Jakub Surovchik's new club, Sparta Prague, is the most decorated club in the Czech Republic with 13 wins in the country's top league, including the past 2022/2023 season. In the first half of this year, Sparta outstripped its nearest rival, Slavia Prague, by 3 points, securing the championship early. Notably, at the end of the past season, Sparta had a long unbeaten run (either victory or draw) that lasted 21 matches!

Sparta Prague has also won 20 Czech Football Cups (a knockout competition) since 1925. For comparison, the biggest rival, Slavia Prague, has won seven championship titles since 1993 and 10 Czech Football Cups.

Jakub Surovchik's move from the Czech team Jablonec to Sparta Prague will allow the young goalkeeper to showcase his talent at the highest level, and the club will gain a serious reinforcement for the new season.

Sparta Prague's management spoke about the transfer as follows: "He plays for the Slovak U21 national team, and his arrival increases competition among the goalkeepers in the team. He meets our requirements, being a young, promising player with whom we want to work and develop his potential".

Jakub Surovchik was born in 2002 in Bratislava, and turned 21 this June. For many years, he accumulated experience in youth teams in Prague, namely Meteor and Slavia. In the 2020/2021 season, he tried adult football in the Slavia team, which plays in the second division. In the fall part of the following season, he was loaned to Vlašim.

In January 2022, Surovchik was already playing for Jablonec, where he participated in approximately 20 matches (in the second most prestigious championship). Last season, he served as the second goalkeeper for the Jablonec's first team. Eventually, he played three matches in the top Czech league.

The Nehoda Sport agency, which represents the player, announced on Twitter that Surovchik has signed a four-year contract with Sparta Prague.

Sparta Prague's Preparation for the 2023/2024 Season

The wards of Danish coach Brian Priske will kick off the new season of the Czech Republic's top league on Sunday, July 23, in a match against Sigma club. As we mentioned earlier, Sparta is the reigning champion of the country, while Sigma finished the previous season in 6th place. In August, Sparta Prague will participate in the Champions League qualifiers.

We can expect to see Jakub Surovčík in the Sparta Prague goal, at least in some of the national Czech league games, and perhaps even in the Champions League qualifiers.

The Czech Championship is conducted in two stages: the regular season and the final stage for awarding the title, where the six best teams face each other in a six-day mini-championship. In case of a tie at the end of this final stage, the champion title is awarded to the team with the best rating in the regular season. This way, it secures the right to play in the Champions League qualifying round next season.

This summer, Sparta held intensive training camps in Austria, where, in addition to training, they played four friendly matches:

  • 30.06: Sparta Prague-Vysocina Jihlava, 1:2
  • 07.07: Dinamo Zagreb-Sparta Prague, 1:1
  • 11.07: Čukarički-Sparta Prague, 1:1
  • 14.07: Anderlecht-Sparta Prague, 0:6
