The 17-year-old Ukrainian goalkeeper Oleksandr Petrenko has officially joined the “Viktoria” Köln club. He will be guarding the team’s goal in the German third division until the end of the season. His loan move to the new club will allow Petrenko to gain more playing experience, ultimately increasing his chances of participating in Bundesliga matches.

Oleksandr Petrenko’s loan to Viktoria Köln came as a result of the team’s need to strengthen its roster after first-choice goalkeeper Oscar Martin Hill suffered an injury. The club’s sporting director, Stefan Küsters, noted that Petrenko is a young and promising goalkeeper who has the opportunity to prove himself both in the first team and in the U-19 squad.
Petrenko began his career at the Dynamo Kyiv academy, where he received his foundational goalkeeper training until he was 17. He then moved to Bayer Leverkusen, becoming the main goalkeeper for the U-19 side. Standing at 193 cm, Petrenko’s height, physical fitness, and mental maturity make him an ideal candidate for professional football.

His work in training aims to improve his decision-making speed and precision in challenging game scenarios.
